Ljetna tvornica znanosti / Summer Science Factory

Opis projekta:
Ljetna tvornica znanosti je znanstveno-edukacijski projekt namijenjen djeci u dobi od 10 do 15 godina, koja imaju želju kreativno provesti ljetne praznike proučavajući znanost kroz interakciju s drugom djecom i mladim znanstvenicima. Ovakav tip radionice, prvi put je održan prošle godine u Splitu u Mediteranskom institutu za istraživanje života, MedILS. Obuhvaćao je tridesetero djece osnovno-školskog uzrasta, čije nas je iznimno zadovoljstvo, motiviranost i sreća potaknulo da ovaj projekt organiziramo i ove godine.
Programi radionica Ljetne tvornice znanosti temelje se na dovođenje djeteta u izravni kontakt sa znanstvenim problemom, te ga potiču, da u suradnji s grupom svojih vršnjaka i uz pomoć mentora stvori kreativno i originalno rješenje. Cilj nam je motiviranoj djeci dati mogućnost da kroz proces otkrivanja svijeta oko sebe postanu svjesni svojih intelektualnih sposobnosti.
Djeca će biti podijeljena u grupe po četvoro, te će pred njih biti postavljen određen problem, na koji bi oni zajedničkim snagama, u tjedan dana trebali pronaći rješenje. Svaka radionica će se zasnivati na određenom znanstvenom području, a vodit će je dva mentora. Područja koja će se pokriti radionicama uključuju poodručja bioinformatike, eksperimentalne biologije, zoologije, organske i anorganske kemije , fizike i informatike.
Radionce će se održavati svaki dan od 9 do 16 sati uz kratke odmore i jednosatnu pauzu za ručak. Posljednji dan radionce, održat će se prezentacija postignutih rezultata pred roditeljima sudionika, mentorima i znanstvenicima MedILS-a.

Kriteriji:
Radionica je namijenjena djeci starosti od 10 do 15 godina (od završenog 3. do 8. razreda osnovne škole) Tražimo visoko motivirane sudionike koji su spremni tjedan dana provesti učeći, kroz zabavu i intenzivan rad, o svijetu koji ih okružuje. Od prijavnika se očekuje sposobnost rada u grupi, te aktivno sudjelovanje u rješavanju problema, raspravi i interakciji sa svojim vršnjacima.
Očekujemo da dijete ima osiguran smještaj u Splitu za vrijeme održavanja radionica, te da ga svaki dan dovede i odvede odgovorna osoba (Starija od 18 godina).
Sudionici prošle radionice imaju potpunu slobodu prijaviti se ponovno!

Pristupnina iznosi 400 kn (uključuje 1 obrok/danu radionice)

Abstract:
Summer science factory is a scientific-educational workshop intended for children from 10 to 15 years of age, which have a desire to spend their summer hollidays investigating science throught interaction with other children and young scientists. This type of workshop was organized, for the first time, last year in the Mediteranian institute for life sciences. It encompassed around thirty elementary-school aged children, whose satisfaction, happines, and immense motivation encouraged us to try to make this event a tradition.
The main idea of the Summer science factory is to bring the child in the immediate contact with a scientific problem, and stimulate him to create, with the help of his peers and mentors, a creative and original solution. Our goal it to give motivated children the possibility to become concious, through the process of discovering the world around them, of themselves and their intelectual capabilities.
Children will be divided into groups of four and presented a problem, to which they are expected to find a solution during the week. Each workshop will be based on one domain of science and will be led by two mentors. Scientific areas that are going to be covered range from experimental biology, zoology, and bioinformatics to inorganic, organic chemistry, physics and informatics.
Workshops will be held every day from 9 am. to 16 pm., with short breaks, and one onehoured pause for lunch. On the last day of the workshop the children will present their work to their parents, mentors and MedILS scientists.

Prerequisites:
The workshops are intended for children from 10 to 15 years of age (from 4-th to 8-th grade). We are looking for highly motivated children that are prepared to spend one week learning, through fun and intensive work, about the world that surrounds them. We expect from the applicants the ability to work in groups, to activly participate in the problem solving, discussions and interactions with their colleauges.
We expect that the child has a secured acoomodation in Split, during the course of the workshop, and that he is brought and taken away, every day, by an adult (older than 18 years)

Fee:
The application fee is 400 kn (includes everyday meals and snacks).
